The Third Undergraduate Seminar Session

The third edition of UGS brought together three fascinating talks spanning physics, computer science, and engineering.

Speakers & Topics

  • Noah Horne (3rd year PhDS) – Lagrangian Putt-Putt: Forced Geodesic Motion on Arbitrary C² Surfaces Models motion constrained to curved surfaces using variational (Lagrangian) mechanics, explaining how curvature affects trajectories (geodesics).
  • Zakaria Ghoddane (1st year CS) – Mathematical and Algorithmic Optimization of Irrigation and Drone Use Combines optimization and sensing: using drone data (e.g., vegetation indices) to schedule irrigation efficiently under water and cost constraints.
  • Natia Ramishvili (1st year ECE) – Dynamics of String Theory Introduces how strings evolve and interact mathematically, and why their dynamics are studied as a framework for unifying physical laws.
