The Undergraduate Seminar (UGS)

Innovative undergraduate research at the intersection of mathematics, computing, and discovery

From first principles to cutting-edge research

Where Undergraduates Share Their Research

Student-led. Research-driven. Pizza-fueled.
The Undergraduate Seminar is a platform where students explore mathematical ideas, computational methods, and scientific discoveries through expository talks.

Is the game of Chess solvable? Should we be worried about the recent advances in cryptography? And, how does maths predict stock prices? With many questions in mind, we bring student speakers from different disciplines to talk about interesting mathematics that is not standardly found within the classroom.

From string theory to machine learning, from optimization algorithms to cosmological models, UGS showcases the diverse interests and talents of our undergraduate community. Each session features three speakers presenting topics they're passionate about, followed by discussions and networking over pizza.
